The RS Class Association strongly believes in the importance of keeping members' personal information personal. It will never use your information for any use beyond that stated or the permissions you give us.

Cookies
A cookie is a text file automatically issued to your computer when you visit a website. Cookies are used to track the flow of traffic through a website and identify the computer on any future visits to our site.

The information stored in a cookie is not used to identify a particular user, just the computer used to access the site. By accepting a cookie you will allow information about your computer such as your internet browser type, screen resolution and location country to be used to compile anonymous statistics about visits to the website.

The RS Class Association site uses cookies for the members only areas, this is to stop you having to login every time you display a new page, only your password and name is stored in the cookie no other personal information is stored in the cookie. The cookie is also only session based and all the information stored in that cookie is cleared as soon as you close your browser.

IP Addresses and Server Logs
The RS Class Association site does record IP addresses and produces server logs – as all Web Servers do. This information is used solely for monitoring the volume of traffic the site receives and measuring the number of Members. We do not use the information for tracking the activities of specific visitors to the site.

Advertising
The RS Class Association contains links to many third-party Web sites and displays banner links to those third party sites.

Email and Online Forms
Members who choose to subscribe to the Yahoo class mailing lists will be bound by the Yahoo privacy statement.
Members who complete any of our online forms, may be asked to supply personal data. If they choose to do so, that information is recorded and used only by the RS Class Association.

If permission is granted, this information may be used to target specific users with occasional emails informing them about commercial services provided by The RS Class Association.

If permission is granted, this information may be used to send occasional emails containing offers from our partners. This will only ever be provided to members who have specifically given us permission to use their information in this way.

Competitions
Members who enter The RS Class Association competitions will be asked for some personal information, but only to allow us to judge the validity of their applications and to contact them should they be declared a competition winner.

If permission is granted, this information may be used to target specific users with commercial services provided by The RS Class Association.

Publishing
We reserve the right to publish emails and letters sent to The RS Class Association. If the sender asks that that we don't reveal his or her identity, that information won't be published. We never publish a private email address unless specifically asked to do so by its owner.

The RS Class Association has partnered with other organisations to provide you with some services such as discounted dinghy insurance and special rates online magazines. All have their own privacy policies, which can be found within their sites.

Cookie Control

Netscape 6.0:
On your Task Bar, click:

3. Click the Privacy Tab
4. Click on Custom Level
5. Click on the 'Advanced' button
6. Check the 'override automatic cookie handing' box and select Accept, Block or Prompt for action.

Internet Explorer 5.0 or 5.5:
1. Choose Tools, then
2. Internet Options
3. Click the Security tab
4. Click on Custom Level
5. Scroll down to the sixth option and change to Accept, Disable, or Prompt for action.

Internet Explorer 4.0:
1. Choose View, then
2. Internet Options
3. Click the Advanced tab
4. Scroll down to the yellow exclamation icon under Security and choose one of the three options.

Internet Explorer 3.0:
You can View, Options, Advanced, then click on the button that says Warn before Accepting Cookies.

Netscape Communicator 4.0:
On your Task Bar, click:
1. Edit, then
2. Preferences
3. Click on Advanced
4. Set your options in the box that says Cookies.

View and delete the cookies that have been issued to you
You can view the contents of each cookie stored on you computer by clicking on it, the cookie can be deleted by selecting the file and pressing the delete key.
